Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is hard to believe that we are already approaching February!
No matter where we have gone shopping since Halloween, our eyes
seem to focus on the Valentine cards and decorations that permeate
the stores.

This month of February particularly calls us to celebrate the
people whom we love.  We remember and treasure those people
whose "presence" in our lives have made us better people.  They call
us to be our best selves thus using our talents and "gifts"  given to
us from God.  May we take the time to personally thank them for
loving us not only in the good times but the difficult times as well.
Their love and friendship have supported  us and we in turn are
called to reciprocate that same love for others in their time of need.

As we quickly approach Lent, God calls us to "Return to me with
all your heart."  What can we say about God's love?  We can say that
God's love for us is unconditional.  God does not say, "I love you,
if..."  There are no ifs in God's heart.  God's love for us does not
depend on what we do or say, on our looks or intelligence, on our
success or popularity. God's love for us existed before we were born
and will exist after we have died.  God's love is from eternity to
eternity and is not bound to any time-related events or
circumstances.

Does that mean that God does not care what we do or say?  No,
because God's love wouldn't be real if God didn't care.  To love
without condition does not mean to love without concern.  God
desires to enter into relationship with us God and wants our love in
return.

Let's dare to enter into that intimate relationship with God
without fear, trusting that we will receive His abundant love and
mercy.  May our prayers this Lent be to grow in our awareness and
appreciation of God's deep love for each one of us!

                                                      Prayerfully,

                                                     Sister Patricia
