Summer Reading List
Grade 1

Students entering First Grade are required
to read and complete one book report.  This
report will be graded and used as a major
mark on the first report card and is due on
the first full Monday in September.  A late
grade will be given for any report turned in
after that day.  A book log will also be sent
home to record any books that you and your
child read together over the summer.  A log
will be sent home during the school year
for each marking period.  The goal for the
school year is to read 100 age appropriate
books.

It is strongly recommended that the children use their
first grade study guide to review vocabulary, grammar,
and especially math facts.

Packets will be given out at the
end of school.

Completed packets are due the
first day of school.

A test will be given the second
week of school.

Grade 4

Book:        The Mouse and the Motorcycle
Author:     Beverly Cleary

This year the children coming in to fourth grade
are required to complete the following activities
during the summer.

Read chapters 1-2 then answer questions #1-6.

After reading chapters 3-4 then answer questions #7-12.

After reading chapters 5-6 then answer questions #13-18.

After reading 7-9 then answer questions #19-24.

After reading chapters 10-11 then answer questions #25-30.

After reading chapters 12-13 then answer questions #31-36.

Complete review #37-46.

Write the words on page 8.

Complete the matching on page 9.

Please return the book and completed packet to
school the first day.  Have a safe and happy
summer.

Grade 5

Required Reading:
 
Book Title:        On My Honor

Part 1:        Quiz Time!
Completely answer the ten comprehension questions
after every three chapters.  (The chapters are indicated
on the top left hand corner of the four worksheets.)

Part 2:        Be A Critic!
Complete the worksheet labeled "Roxy Theater."  
Pretend the book was made into a movie and you are a
movie critic.  Give a summary and yopur opinion of the
movie
On My Honor.

Part 3:        Ad Appeal!
Complete the worksheet labeled "Ad Appeal."  Draw a
poster to advertise the book
On My Honor.  Follow the
directions and requirements on the worksheet.

Bring this packet back on the first day of
school in September.  Do your work neatly and
completely.  This will be graded as a major test
grade for the first trimester.
